STEWART COX
STEWY'S SUNDAY STORM
At just 13 years old, Stewart’s journey into the world of DJing began with access to his uncle and cousin's decks at mobile disco gigs.
Family traditions meant three epic parties every Christmas, where Stewart and his brother had the honour of curating the tunes.
These early experiences seeded his love for music, sparking countless cherished memories.
As a teenager he found himself diving headfirst into the rave scene, attending Jungle and Drum & Bass events at legendary venues like the Sanctuary to underground spots like Lydd Airport and Docklands plus many more.
Icons such as Micky Finn, DJ Hype, Fabio & Grooverider where a major influence to Stewart and his passion for the scene drove him to invest in a set of decks for himself.
Learning to mix on a pair of belt-drive decks back in the day was tough going, busting out tracks such as his favourite "The Licence" by Krome and Time, at his Barking flat, annoying the neighbours!
Persistence paid off with Stewart and friends soon making appearances on Pirate Radio.
Life's path diverted when he joined the Army, forcing him to bid farewell to his vinyl collection, and later, marriage and family pressed pause on his musical pursuits.
Yet, the call of the decks never faded with lockdown providing the perfect moment to reignite his passion.
Enter the digital age and Stewart soon become accustom to the new technology, familiarising himself on pioneer decks and mixer, this time with a passion for House Music.
Stewart has gone from strength to strength since lockdown and joined Legal Dance Music Radio Station FunkySX 103.7FM where he’s held a weekly show for over 3 years.
Stewart plays for the crowd and is regularly booked at events such as Smiley Culture, Proper Fest, Twisted Essex events to name a few.
