Paul Ess is a House DJ playing all aspects of House, club classics and bangers alike! He transitioned to House from UK Garage under the alias Smiffy P.

He began mixing heavily influenced by big names in the garage scene at the time, mainly EZ, Norris ‘Da boss’ Windross, Jayson Kaye and Karl “tuff enuff” Brown.

Within 7 months of buying decks he got himself on a radio show : Underground Flavas FM, an East London DnB station.

Quickly moving onto North London pirates Ouch FM, the kings of the internet at the time: Phatbeats, Touch FM, Subjam FM. Around these times he built up a decent reputation and was lucky enough to play at some amazing venues around London, Essex and Hertfordshire. While working the Bars and Club scene he also managed to secure a residency in Ayia Napa in 2008 while also becoming a resident at the infamous Garage Nation brand.

Moving onto Pulse London, again at the time arguably London’s (if not the UKs) biggest pirate. It was here he teamed up with DJ MV (who he’d met on Touch FM from back in the day) and started the infamous Friday nights 10-12 shows and the Birth of EssnVee (Paul Ess & MV) was here!

After the decline of Pulse (and Garage music) they moved onto Vision Radio UK where the full transition to House was made.

Taking a break from music in 2016 to try other things music kept calling and now currently loving life as part of the family at Fresh Soundz!
