GILO
FUNKY FRIDAYS

Gilo hails from the Isle of Wight, with roots in the UK’s golden-era club scene. His love affair with house music began at university in Bournemouth, where nights at iconic venues like Slinky set the tone for a lifelong obsession with dancefloors.

From there, Gilo took things nationwide - regular pilgrimages to Bristol’s legendary Lakota and Worthing’s legendary Sterns, plus raving at events like Raindance and Sunrise. After relocating to London, he became a familiar face (and mover) across the capital’s scene, frequenting institutions such as Ministry of Sound, The Gardening Club, and Club UK - with the occasional Sunday session at The Ship in Wandsworth to round things off properly.

Long before stepping behind the decks, Gilo was known for his energy on the dancefloor - often found at the top of the stairs in the MoS balcony, if you know, you know.

DJing came later - sparked during lockdown when a brave friend Circle introduced him to the craft (a learning curve for both involved). What started as a hobby quickly grew into a full-blown passion, and he’s now proud to be part of the FreshSoundz family.

His sound is all about feel-good, high-energy funky house - think disco-infused grooves, uplifting piano breaks, and big vocal moments (the “girly vocals” absolutely included).

Musically, his influences span from late ‘80s house through to the golden eras of Chicago and New York deep house, with a special love for classic Ministry of Sound sessions and the infectious energy of Hed Kandi.

Starting out on the Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 and now playing on club-standard setups like the XDJs CDJs.

Gilo brings both nostalgia and fresh energy to every set - always with one goal: to get people moving.
